The bulls were selected from a group that have been performance evaluated through SA Studbook as well as phenotypically assessed by Ian Walsh of the Falkirk Scientific Foundation.

We have looked to putting forward a group of easy fleshing, medium framed bulls with good muscle expression.  As such, our quest for hindquarter shape is now coming to the fore.  In doing so, we have also this year assessed for early winter hair loss as well as regularly assessing for those bulls that always look sleek and in better condition than their contemporaries.

We have also culled extremes in frame size.

Our two-year old bulls wintered in 2013 on an oats/ ryegrass forage to keep them growing.  They have summered on natural veldt with a phosphate lick.  The two-year old bulls went on to an Olifantskop complete finishing ration on Monday 12 May, with the 2.5-year old on Monday 26 May.  The three-year old bull, Duncraggan Scotsman 125, was used in-herd during the Summer 2013/ 4 breeding season due to his easy fleshing ability and moderate frame size, and went on to an oats/ ryegrass forage on Tuesday 10 June.

The 2.5-year old bull, Duncraggan Teaser 147, is probably the last Spry’s All Gold D052 son we will have on sale until 2016.  We have had a run of heifer calves by All Gold until the Autumn 2014 calving season.
